We held a basic blacksmith class last weekend, good times. Turned out to be a small class that afforded us extra time to teach a basic MIG welding class as well .

GARRETT ELTING
Garrett has been blade-smithing for about five years. He and his father started Steel Pig Forge in early 2014 after his return from four years of service in the Marine Corps. “After two deployments and four years from home, it was nice to reconnect with my dad over a common interest that we both enjoy. My favorite part about making blades is forging the steel. Being able to manipulate bars of steel into patterns and shapes, then forging it into knives is very rewarding. Forging is a sort of therapy for me; it calms me and clears my mind. I want to be able to share with other veterans and anyone that wants to learn.”
Oh yeah I should mention Garrett was on Forged in Fire!
The Blacksmith Shop is participating in the OMAHA Summer Arts festival down town OMAHA. We will be here all weekend forging, teaching and hanging out. Stop by 13 and Mike Fahey street.
Country Bumpkins 4-H Club made a trip to the forge last week. We had a great time exploring the art of twisting steel. Next project is for judging at the Sarpy County fair.
We have added a last chance class to this years schedule. December 15-16, 2018.
