If hitting a piece of white hot steel with a hammer sounds like fun, this class is for you! Step back in time and witness the once familiar scene of the village blacksmith churning away before a blazing hot fire, showering themselves with pin-point sparks of light with each ping against the anvil. Once a familiar scene the automation of the industrial revolution changed all that.
Now you can have the opportunity to see what being a blacksmith was like, without investing in a shop or equipment. Learn the tools of the trade and their uses. Learn proper hammer control and techniques.
Classes will be held periodically throughout the year, and consist of all day Saturday through late afternoon and all day Sunday. Class size will be limited to six students to provide ample individual attention.
At the end of the class each student goes home with a working knowledge of almost all the processes and techniques that a blacksmith needs, and several functional pieces of art that they have made entirely themselves.
This weekend course is designed for those with an interest in blacksmithing but have no previous experience. We cover the fundamentals as to what is needed to be a blacksmith including safety, tools, resources, and references. 16 + hours of instruction and supervision.
The class schedule for basic blacksmithing classes for 2022. Class dates are filled by calling me and paying a $150 deposit. I’m interested in the basic blacksmithing class and blade class for my husband. What are the meeting times for the classes, is it an all day workshop? Also, how much does it cost and what tools are required?
Thank you so much,
Pattie

Classes are Saturday and Sunday cost $300 everything included including lunch both days . Next class is feb 20-21.
would I need to take the basic class and tool class before I take the blade class?
Just the basic class and some practice
You only need to take the basic class then you can take any of the other classes. Once you take the basic class you can rent shop time to work on your own projects
Also, is the basic class for adults?
Yes our age limit is 16 with a parent in the class or 18 years old
I have taken the basic class and had some one-on-one instruction. Elmo is a great instructor and it is a lot of fun! I would highly recommend taking one of his classes!
Ian
Hey where are classes held I live in Omaha Nebraska are you close? And do you do payment plans?
Classes are held at 3031 Upland Parkway. The Blacksmith shop is across the street from the Crock Center. I accept credit cards or cash, classes cost $300.

How much are the blade classes?
Depending on the price of tool steel but usually $375 for the two day class

I am attempting to find someone to apprentice under to start a smithy where Marines can go and learn the trade for free as therapy for PTSD. I am highly interested in the classes you offer, however, if there are any more individuals able to take on an apprentice that accept the post 9-11 GI bill so that I may confidently teach those individuals in need I would be very grateful.
Thank you for your time
Howe Derik C.
I think you will need to contact a school to use the GI Bill. University of Illinois has blacksmith program in their BA program
Hi, this is kinda last minute but is this weekend’s classes still available? If not, could I request a one on one class? I want to take a blade class but after December 2nd I won’t be able to travel.
You can still register thru MCC web site.

Could I take the October blade class without a basic class? I won’t be able to go to any other blade class, thanks
No it is our requirement due to the pace of the blade class. We will have Blade classes after the new year .
Do you have any other Damascus classes sooner then the one for Nov 2019? I was looking for a Christmas present for my husband and he wants to take your Damascus class.
No as of this printing, if enough interest is made then I can schedule another class. The basic class is required before taking any advanced class. Feel free to call and I can answer your questions.

The blade class we make two knives to completion and learn the process of heat treating tool steel.
The ax class we will make a camp ax and a throwing hawk.
I have a 13 year old that is very interested in becoming a blacksmith. Specifically making knives. Do you allow teenagers in your classes.
